“Let us lie in wait for the righteous man,
because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions;
he reproaches us for sins against the law,
and accuses us of sins against our training.
He professes to have knowledge of God,
and calls himself a child of the Lord.
Let us see if his words are true,
Let us test him with insult and torture,
that we may find out how gentle he is,
and make trial of his forbearance.
Wis 2: 12-13, 17, 19

Beware our own claims to be good Christians! “Pride comes before a fall.” There are so many ways we can fail to live up to our ideals. Better to be low key (humble in biblical terms) and let others praise us when we get it right.
Our Father …. lead us not into temptation and deliver us from evil.
