As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
Jn 15: 9-11
Just a reminder here about what these commandments are that we’re supposed to keep:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. [Lk 10: 27]
If the meaning of that isn’t immediately clear, this verse shows the life of service, other-centredness, that we are called to live:
Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [Jn 15: 13]
Oh God, help me to keep the simplest yet most difficult of your commandments.
