“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls,
who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Matt 13: 44-46
What is kingdom of heaven? Is it worth risking everything for? Those questions can only be answered within the context of faith, faith that everlasting life (and we’ve been told that we can’t imagine what that will be like) is worth living for others here and now, following in the footsteps of Jesus. Speaking for myself, I believe in a creator God, that there is something better to come, and that the way to get there is through loving God and neighbour. But at the same time I often feel as though I’m stumbling about blindly.
God, guide my footsteps so that I keep heading in the right direction.
